GENERAL
The competition is open to
anyone whether amateur or
professional photographers from
all over the world.
-
The exhibition will be
conducted in accordance with the
requirements and practices of PSA.
Acceptances received by PSA members
in approved sections of this
exhibition are eligible for PSA Star
Ratings, listing in the
worldwide PSA Who’s Who
of photography, and credited
toward the PSA Distinctions
however, an entry may be
rejected when the sponsoring
organization, or its agent, in
its reasonable discretion,
believes the entry does not
conform to exhibition rules and
conditions.

EXHIBITION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
RPS -The
Exhibition is open to anyone;
however an entry may be rejected
at the reasonable discretion of
the organising body. The entries
must originate as photographs
(image-captures of objects via
light sensitivity) on
photographic emulsion or
digitally produced and certified
to be the entrant’s work. The
Exhibition assumes no liability
for breach of copyright.
Permission to reproduce images
in publications relating to the
Exhibition must state that only
low resolution images will be
used on a CD or website. The
organisers will exercise care in
the handling of the entries but
accepts no responsibility for
loss or damage, howsoever
caused. Entries must be limited
to no more than four per
section. An image previously
accepted in this Exhibition or a
“like” image must not be entered
again. There can be no
restriction on subject matter
except that required by the
rules of a special section,
which must be approved by The
Society. Images which are
illegal or inappropriate for
public exhibition cannot be
accepted. Any evidence of the
entry of stolen or plagiaristic
images must be reported to The
Society Patronage Administrator.
Entrants must be authors of the
works submitted.
A total of 4 photos max per author
are allowed for each section
The organizer (PCA) may use
submitted photographs for
reproduction in the exhibition
catalogue and/or for other
promotional purposes without any
reimbursement to the author of the
photograph(s).
An entrant’s four images will be
distributed throughout four rounds
of judging for that section.
Entries must originate as
photographs (image-captures of
objects via light sensitivity) made
by the entrant on photographic
emulsion or acquired digitally.
Images may be altered, either
digitally or otherwise, by the maker
and artwork or computer graphics
created by the entrant may be
incorporated if the photographic
content predominates, subject to
divisional restrictions. By virtue
of submitting an entry, the entrant
certifies the work as his own
(aliases are not permitted). The
entrant permits the sponsors to
reproduce all or part of the entered
material free of charge for
publication and/or display in media
related to the exhibition. This may
include low resolution posting on a
website. Note: Entrants who indicate
that their images may not be
reproduced or used “may not be
eligible” for awards or inclusion in
audio-visuals of the exhibition “and
could be subjected to
disqualification by the exhibition
sponsors.
-Submissions must NOTcontain
anyNUDEmaterials,any entryhaving
NUDE content will NOT be accepted.
Entry form must be specific in
indicating which sections have
approval from which PSA Divisions.
This may be a critical element in an
exhibitor’s choice of images to
enter as well as the exhibitor’s
decision to enter or not enter.
Images that do not meet the
definition shall be disqualified.
If time permits, the entrant shall
be notified the image does not meet
the definition and requested to
resubmit an image that does meet the
definition.
Projected Image Division: The
Conditions of Entry (Entry Form) for
PID recognized Monochrome class
sections must state: A monochrome
image is defined as having varying
shades of no more than one color
(various shades of that color from
very light to very dark) but it may
be any single color. Multi-toned
images (various shades of two or
more colors) and greyscale images
with an added accent color are not
acceptable in Monochrome Class
sections and must be entered in
Color Class sections.
Monochrome Definition: A
monochrome image is defined as
having varying shades of no more
than one color (various shades of
that color from very light to very
dark) but it may be any single
color. Multi-toned images (various
shades of two or more colors) and
grayscale images with added an
accent color are not acceptable in
Monochrome Class sections and must
be entered in Color Class sections.
Nature Definition: Nature
photography is restricted to the use
of the photographic process to
depict all branchesof natural
history, except anthropology and
archeology, in such a fashion that a
well-informed person will be able to
identify the subject material and
certify its honest presentation. The
story telling value of a photograph
must be weighed more than the
pictorial quality while maintaining
high technical quality. Human
elements shall not be present,
except where those human elements
are integral parts of the nature
story such as nature subjects, like
barn owls or storks, adapted to an
environment modified by humans, or
where those human elements are in
situations depicting natural forces,
like hurricanes or tidal waves.
Scientific bands, scientific tags or
radio collars on wild animals are
permissible. Photographs of human
created hybrid plants, cultivated
plants, feral animals, domestic
animals, or mounted specimens are
ineligible, as is any form of
manipulation that alters the truth
of the photographic statement. No
techniques that add, relocate,
replace, or remove pictorial
elements except by cropping are
permitted. Techniques that enhance
the presentation of the photograph
without changing the nature story or
the pictorial content, or without
altering the content of the original
scene, are permitted including HDR,
focus stacking and dodging/burning.
Techniques that remove elements
added by the camera, such as dust
spots, digital noise, and film
scratches, are allowed. Stitched
images are not permitted. All
allowed adjustments must appear
natural. Color images can be
converted to greyscale monochrome.
Infrared images, either direct
captures or derivations, are not
allowed. Images entered in Nature
sections meeting the Nature
Photography Definition above can
have landscapes, geologic
formations, weather phenomena, and
extant organisms as the primary
subject matter. This includes images
taken with the subjects in
controlled conditions, such as zoos,
game farms, botanical gardens,
aquariums and any enclosure where
the subjects are totally dependent
on man for food.
(NOTE: An exhibition may impose a
definition more strict than the PSA
Nature Definition above but the
exhibition must not allow entries
less strict than the PSA Nature
Definition above. This is to
accommodate those exhibitions
receiving patronage or approval from
other International Photographic
Organizations that impose more
strict requirements than the general
PSA Nature Definition.)
Photojournalism Definition: Photojournalism
entries shall consist of images or
sequences of images with informative
content and emotional impact,
including human interest,
documentary and spot news.The
journalistic value of the image
shall receive priority over
pictorial quality. In the interest
of credibility, images that
misrepresent the truth and model or
staged set-ups are not permitted.
Techniques that add to, relocate,
replace or remove any element of the
original image, except by cropping,
are not permitted.Techniques that
enhance the presentation of the
image, without changing the
photojournalism content, are
permitted. All adjustments must
appear natural. Color images can be
converted to greyscale monochrome.
Exhibitions offering a Human
Interest medal or a Human Interest
section shall also include, "Human
Interest is defined as an image
depicting a person or persons in an
interactive, emotional or unusual
situation, excluding recreational
and sports action."
Photo travel definition: The
Photo Travel section of the entry
form must state that “Subject matter
must portray Photo Travel”, and
include the following definition: A
Photo Travel image must express the
feeling of a time and place, and
portray a land, its distinctive
features or culture in its natural
state. There are no geographical
limitations. Close-up pictures of
people or objects must include
distinguishable environment.
Techniques that add to, relocate,
replace or remove any element of the
original image, except by cropping,
are not permitted. All adjustments
must appear natural. Conversion to
full monochrome is acceptable.
Derivations, including infrared, are
unacceptable. |
